Chinchwad Devasthan and Morya Gosavi Samadhi

History

• The trust says Morya Gosavi took sanjivan samadhi in 1561 on Margashirsha Vadya Shashti, at the age it gives as 186, on the bank of the Pavana where the river flows south. His son Chintamani Maharaj set a two-armed Ganapati, with Siddhi and Buddhi, above the cave. The trust dates the temple’s construction from 27 October 1658 to 13 June 1659 and says the building is plain stone, with an assembly hall, the samadhi beyond it, and an Arjuneshvar linga in the outer sanctum. Why it matters
